Holiday Update

Ok, so it has been a while since I have updated my blog, but I am getting it all back together and it is going good! I have a few announcements to make...
With a slow start to the "Inspired by Nature" series it has finally taken hold and I can barely keep up! I am currently sold out for this series but stay tuned, I will have new pieces released soon!
Honey Beads have been very involved with the local Irvington events and I would like to issue a special Thanks to all of my Irvington customers! I could'nt wish for better people to get to know and dress in my wearable art! Thank you for supporting your local artists!
I attended the Irvington Halloween Festival last month and the Benton House Holiday Bazaar last week and we had a wonderful turn out. I will continue to support these events as well as many other Irvington events.

I have had many people ask me where else they can purchase Honey Beads Jewelry and I will be updating my calander soon however until then, Honey Beads next appearence will be at the Indianapolis Columbia Club, in downtown Indianapolis. The annual event will be held the evening of the 9th of December. I am also in the process of setting up consignment in a couple local shops. I will keep you all updated and will list the various places where Honey Beads Jewelry can be purchased as soon as possible.

On A Personal Note...

My boyfriend of 2 years and father of my youngest son and I split up, and I was forced to move. My heart is broken but I'm a tuff cookie and am healing quickly. I had to move my whole studio along with everything else I own, and my children's belongings clear across town into a very small (by comparison) apartment so needless to say the production of my fall line has been slowed slightly but I think I should have everything back on track by next week. Maybe this will help serve for some dark inspiration for Halloween! LOL

2009 Fall Line

Well Summer is over, and it is time for fall fashion!
My favorite season of the year, fall is full of rich colors. There is so much beauty in fall to be appreciated. The beautiful amber, red and purple tones from the leaves changing is just one of the many beauties of the fall season.

Introducing "Eternal"

When I finish a bead it is like a moment caught in time. All the excitement, focus, time and energy along with the idea and inspiration for the bead(s) are captured in the bead. You see there is a lot more put into a bead than just glass. If you are an artist of any medium, be it jewelry or painting, you know that the first thing needed is inspiration. Once you find that then comes the idea. Now as for myself there is much planning before I sit down to the torch. I first figure out the different glasses that I would like to use, then comes the design of the bead. This can be really tricky with all the different color choices and the reactions of the glasses. Then comes the torch. Now even though I have a design pictured fresh in my mind, that is subject to change. It is very rare that, with all art forms, your final product is exactly what you planned for. That is what makes it art, the ability to improvise! After a great deal of blood sweat and tears, the finished product is an embodiment of all that it took to make it.
This is where "Eternal" comes in. As my latest line of beads, I have captured these moments, for all eternity. Each is named after what it was inspired by. For example,
"Eternal Ocean"
With this beautiful focal I have used a combination of blue and dichroic glass to capture the colors of the glistening night sea. I have the framed it with layers of silver and soft glasses. However, the ocean has depth and dimension created by waves, and my bead needs that to be complete! By carefully twisting areas of the surface of the bead, I think I've done just that!

So ever since I started selling jewelry, I have been on the look out for quality materials at great prices, found that. I have been working on getting my bookkeeping in order, got that done. And I have been trying to cut overhead that causes my prices to be higher than I would like, DONE IT!! Some have actually went up slightly, but only because they use the best materials and in order to continue using the best materials, it was necessary. New Earrings At Honey Beads

I have been asked many time why I don't have any earrings for sale and well the only answer I could come up with is "I don't know". What To Do?

Have you ever seen the most gorgeous focal bead but have no idea how you would use it in a piece of jewelry? I know I have!
The answer... make a pendant! I know what your thinking... "a pendant... yawn", but this is where the fun comes in! I believe that a pendant should be the icing on the cake. So... you have to make a great cake, the cake being the necklace. Be creative, and unusual. Remember no one wants to wear something that is just like everything else they see. Have Fun!!!

This Weekends Art Walk

Well the events are here and I have been busy, busy, busy! This Saturday I went to the local Irvington Art Walk. It was a wonderful day filled with wonderful people. I had many sales and am now working on restocking my Artfire shop. I will be adding new items starting Monday the 22. Well the summer is here and so are the summer events. I have been in the process of getting a good inventory for the upcomming events.
